Keith Bennett's Karate Academy Holds Martial Arts Marathon To Raise Money For Local Homeless Shelter
(PRWEB) September 10, 2005 -- On Saturday October 1st, 2005 the students of Keith Bennetts Karate Academy will be kicking off its Annual Fall Ten-Hour Martial Arts Marathon. With 100% of all proceeds raised from this event being donated to the Darmstadt Shelter for the homeless, located in Kingston, New York.
The Darmstadt Shelter, in the former Rug Den Building, is a new two-story shelter located on Thomas Street in Kingston, New York. It can accommodate 19 people in six bedrooms, a few offices, a full kitchen and a bathing facility. The primary purpose of this particular shelter is to move people from the Kings Inn in Midtown Kingston, into a better living environment.
Family of Woodstock, Executive Director, Michael Berg feels confident that the project will help the community and the individuals it serves. This is a chance for people to really get their lives back together and be productive citizens. Family of Woodstock has been instrumental in helping Kingstons homeless since 1970, with it setup its first hotline.
Keith Bennetts Karate Academy, located here in Kingston, will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary as a part of this community by continuing its tradition of support. Our first Martial Arts Marathon, 15 years ago, was for the Darmstadt Shelter, I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than to have this marathon go to support this very worthy cause said Master Bennett.
Children and adult students at Keith Bennetts Karate Academy will be demonstrating different skills each hour, everything from kicking and self-defense to board breaking. The schedule for this years marathon will be from 9:00am until 7:00pm. Each student is encouraged to raise as much as possible to support this very worthy cause, with a minimum collection of only $5 per hour, or $50 for all ten hours.
This 10 Hour Martial Arts Marathon to support the Darmstadt shelter is open to anyone who would like to participate and donate to this worthy cause. Please join us on Saturday, October 1st, beginning at 9am at Keith Bennetts Karate Academy, 53 Albany Avenue, Kingston, New York.
